Book Review - The Corruptible

I recently read The Corruptible by Mark Mynheir, 2nd in the Ray Quinn Mystery Series. I love a good detective story so I was looking forward to reading this book. I was a little concerned about starting the second book without having read the first, but there are enough references made in this book that you'll know what happened in the first. Ray Quinn is a retired detective who has recently opened a private investigation service. He's also an alcoholic, turning to drink after he was shot and became disabled. He's retained by a wealthy businessman to recover some stolen information, which seems like it would be a fairly easy case, but turns complicated when the person who stole the information is found murdered. The dead person also happens to be a dirty ex-cop who Ray was acquainted with.

Ray works to solve the case along with his partner Crevis and some help from a friend named Pam. The book is very detailed about the steps that a detective goes through to solve a crime and that was interesting to read. I felt that the book was a little slow paced but I still found it enjoyable. I look forward to reading the other books in the series and would recommend this book to others.
