Now that the countdown to Christmas has begun, I've been checking Pinterest for some fun and easy Christmas crafts to do with my little guy.   I think this Christmas tree is adorable and my son can put it on his nightstand or dresser if he wants, after we finish making it.

weekend craft shows

This weekend marks the end of the craft show season (at least for me).  I'll be a vendor at the Artisans' Alley show in Coronado on Saturday, December 1.  This show is huge - over 300 vendors!

 Then on Sunday, December 2 I'll be a vendor at the Holiday Hit List show which is sponsored by the North Park Craft Mafia.  This craft show will take place in beautiful Point Loma from noon to 6 pm.  The great thing about this show is that it is on the grounds of Liberty Station, so there's a food court and grocery store within walking distance.</>

giving thanks

Happy Thanksgiving!  Although I feel we should be thankful every day for the blessings in our lives, I'm grateful for Thanksgiving because it serves as a reminder for me to stop and think about the good things in my life.  Today I give thanks for my family, my good health, and to be able to stay at home and do what I love (CRAFT!).  Have a great day!

Book Review - Darkness Rising

 

Darkness Rising is book two of the East Salem Trilogy written by Lis Wiehl with Pete Nelson.  Dani Harris is a forensic psychiatrist and Tommy Gunderson is her "assistant" who is also a former football player and minor celebrity.   They previously solved a murder that was committed by a student at St. Adrian’s Academy (school for boys) and return to the school to find out what's really happening there.  Dani and Tommy soon discover there are supernatural forces at work at the school and the forces start working to prevent them from finding out the truth.
 
I really enjoyed reading this book and liked the main characters and the story.  Don't feel that you need to read the first novel in the series before starting this one. The storyline stands on its own and a lot of the characters' backgrounds and what happened previously is covered in this book.  I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys reading a good vs evil story.  Looking forward to reading book three!

Weekly Wednesday Review - Perfect Lies

Perfect Lies: Overcoming Nine Hidden Beliefs That Stand between You and a Healthy, Joy-Filled Life is a book written by Jennifer Crow.  To the outside world, Jennifer seemed to have a perfect life but she began having health problems and became depressed.  Jennifer realized that she had been accepting the devil's "perfect lies" and it was affecting her mind and body.  Some of the lies she believed: I am unlovable, I am worthless, and I am unacceptable.  She eventually found a (non-Christian) counselor that helped her to combine meditative prayer with the truths she knew about God. As Jennifer got her health back, she wanted to share the practical techniques she learned with others so they could lead a healthy and joy-filled life. Each chapter of the book identifies each lie, then takes the reader through something called a picture prayer exercise. The end of each chapter also provides statements and scriptures to ponder. I'm not sure how effective the picture prayer exercises are (I didn't try them), but I would recommend this book to anyone that wants to try a different technique to stop feeling unworthy and start feeling joy in their life.
