frozen yogurt and a recipe

Have you ever tried making your own frozen yogurt? There's so many fro-yo places around where I live that I've never thought of doing it. (The picture above is from a visit yesterday to one of my favorite places The Yogurt Mill, yum!) If you would like to try making your own frozen yogurt, here's a recipe (from The Do It Yourself Mom) that doesn't require the use of ice cream maker:

Ingredients: 3 cups yogurt, ¾ cup sugar, 1 tsp vanilla

Simply mix all ingredients in a freezer safe bowl and place in your regular freezer. After about 30–60 minutes, check on the yogurt, and stir vigorously with a spatula or hand mixer to break up the ice crystals. Repeat this process every 30–45 minutes until the yogurt is frozen well. In general, the more you break up the ice crystals, the longer it will take for the frozen yogurt to finish, but the smoother the end result will be.

Have a great weekend!

hello monday

October is almost halfway through and it's a month away until the next Queen Bee show! If you're in the San Diego/North County area, please try to stop by. It's a great place to buy handcrafted items and it's unique because everyone puts a lot of time and effort into making their booths beautiful to look at as well as having pretty displays and products.  And right now there's a giveaway at the Queen Bee website, so go check it out.

I used random.org for the washi tape giveaway and the number that came up was 3.   (I couldn't post the screenshot because I'm having some type of problem with the print screen on my laptop).  So congratulations to tweetyscute!! & I'll be getting in touch soon.

Thank you to everyone who entered and there will be a giveaway next month - $25 gift certificate to the Little Pink Plum shop.  Have a great week!

air show

If you're going to be in the San Diego area (or live here) the Blue Angels will be performing this weekend at Miramar Air Base.  I go to see the show every year and my little guy loves it.  It's too loud for him so we usually found a spot several miles outside of the air base and the planes still fly over us and it's a big thrill.  For more information about the Blue Angels, visit their website.

The washi tape winner will be announced on Monday.  Have a great weekend!

Book Review - The Widow of Saunders Creek

I recently read The Widow Of Saunders Creek, a novel written by Tracey Bateman. Corrie Saunders became a widow when her military husband Jarrod was killed by a suicide bomber while on a mission in Iraq. Six months after Jarrod's death, Corrie decides to restore and live in her husband's family home in the Ozarks. Corrie starts getting to know her husband's relatives and Eli, Jarrod's cousin, begins helping Corrie work on the house. Over time he starts to have feelings for Corrie although she is still grieving for Jarrod and she becomes convinced that Jarrod's spirit is still around because of different things that occur in the house. Eli is a preacher and believes that what Corrie senses is not Jarrod but a spirit with dark intentions. Eli will need all of his faith and love for Corrie to change her beliefs, but will she?

My thoughts - I thought the book was okay; the pace was a little slow for me and I tend to like more fast-paced books. The book is written from both Eli and Corrie's viewpoints, so that was a little disjointed to me. Also it was never made clear what (or who) the spirit in the house was. I think this book would be enjoyable for anyone who wants to read about someone who is steadfast in their faith (Eli) and wouldn't mind the occult/demonic aspects.

Disclosure:  I received this book from Waterbrook Multnomah in exchange for an honest review.  All opinions expressed are my own.
